Today's report from Mike's Ride for Make-A-Wish:

Today's report is "bare bones".  I'm on a Mac and don't know how to get pictures from phone or Spin Home Wisdom stories from my portable harddrive.  I hope to be able to add this stuff in tomrrow...

It was a discouraging day with several brightspots.  First, I had a headwind all day except for about 10 miles.  I was going east and faced a wind out of the SE.  I was very disheartening.  Plus, I thought I knew what pain was after yesterday's ride.  Well, I now realize I didn't.  My oh my I so look forward to my rest day on June 9!!!!!!
The bright spots were the three times that Harry spent time riding in front of me to make going into the wind easier.  He was a real life-saver today.  It would have been really hard to complete it without his help.  THANK YOU Harry!!
His friend, Paul, is going to join us for the next two days.  So, there will ALWAYS be someone riding in front of me on June 6 and 7!  Does that make me a happy boy?  YES IT DOES!!!!!!
Today's max speed was pathetic due to the wind.  Not that much climbing.

Final Stats for today:
Started at 7:00 am and finished at 5:00 pm.
Covered 102 miles, ave speed of 12.2 mph.  Max speed - 31.4 mph
Riding time - 8 hours and 18 minutes.
Feet of elevation climbed - 2949'.
Wind - out of the SE.  On the "Hurt/Help" Wind scale, today was a -2.5

The "Hurt/Help" Wind Scale is my way of saying "this is how much the wind hurt/helped me over the course of the day".  It can Hurt me up to a -5, or help me up to a +5.

Thank-yous for today
A HUGE thank you to Harry Eckerson who drove the support vehicle AND spent almost 20 miles riding in front of me.  This was an incredible help and source of encouragement!!
Thank you to our host family, Carl and Darlene Lilienkamp.
Thank you to Bill (and Carolyn) Seifert who interviewed me as soon as I arrived in town.
And finally, thank you to the Tacos and More for providing supper for Harry and myself!  That was greatly appreciated.

Life is like riding a bicycle - in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving. - Albert Einstein

I thought of that while riding my bike. - Albert Einstein (On the Theory of Relativity.)

Spin Home Wisdom for today:
      Hopefully a new one tomorrow...
